Cycling glasses are essential kit for riding on roads, trails or through the woods. Cycling glasses will protect your eyes from UV light, flying insects, trail debris and the odd branch and trailing bramble determined to injure you. Cycling glasses by their nature will get damaged over time so when you are choosing your next pair there are only a number of things worth considering.....
-
Frames. Will they be comfortable? You will be wearing them all day and you need to have a pair of glasses that you do not notice. Here you have 2 options;
-
Full Frame Designs e.g. Rad8 504, 505,& 507. These designs tend to be more secure, less curved and offer a more solid feel. In the case of the 504 and 505 they are also available with prescription lenses
-
Half Frame Designs e.g Rad8 502, 506. These designs tend to very light and more wraparound in fit and feel. The nose bridge is adjustable so can accommodate more variations in nose width big or small.
-
Lenses. Rad8 Lenses come in 2 styles , Photochromic or Polarised and will suit different people based on the style of riding you do;
-
Photochromic Lenses. (incl Transitions Prescription Lenses) These lenses change colour from dark to light based on the surrounding UV levels. In bright sunshine they go dark and on dull days they are lighter and in trees or at night they go clear. These lenses offer a good solution for all year round riding in unpredictable weather. If you spend time cycling through trees and muddy trails you are very likely to hit small branches and get mud thrown up off your tyres so photochromic lenses could offer you a good solution.
-
Polarised Lenses. These lenses offer excellent clarity as they filter reflected light and offer a crystal clear view of the roads and trails. They come in different colours and can also be excellent for driving in bright sunshine. light absorption, filter level, lens colour.
Rad8 Cycling Glasses have all been tested and worn for many years by the Rad8 ambassadors and have proven themselves to stay on even on the roughest rocky descents. There are many options, the frames are light and secure, the lenses are photochromic, polarised or prescription and all parts are replaceable. Feel free to read the reviews and drop us a line if you need any further information.
